SH 1 blocked after two crashes

Motorists travelling on State Highway One in the Waiwera to Puhoi region are advised that there has been two recent accidents that have caused the road to be blocked to all traffic. 

It is estimated that the road will be blocked for the next hour (1430-1530)on what is traditionally a busy afternoon on that section of highway. 

Weather conditions in the area have added to the problem with wind and rain gusts making driving difficult. 

Motorists are advised to alter travel plans in the region or seek alternate routes such as Highway 16. 

Motorists are further cautioned to heed the conditions.
