Hamilton Based Ventura Inn and Suites Starts Their Upgrade

Hamilton’s Ventura Inn and Suites is responding to a boom in the New Zealand tourism sector by fast-tracking a major upgrade of all 50 rooms.
Government research released last week by New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) shows an extra 26 hotels could be needed in New Zealand over the next 10 years to cope with a hefty increase in visitor numbers.
Data from Statistics New Zealand shows tourism has snatched back the top spot as New Zealand’s biggest export earner, overtaking the dairy industry for the first time in five years.
Kenneth Mitchell, owner/operator of Ventura Inn and Suites, says he is rising to the challenge set by NZTE to attract more private investment in the hotel sector.
“The strong market is giving operators the confidence to invest in their businesses,” says Mr Mitchell. “Ventura is no exception, planning to fast track a comprehensive upgrade program that will place the business firmly in the four-star category and appeal to a wider range of clientele.”
Mr Mitchell, who has many years’ experience in accommodation and tourism in tourist-oriented areas such as Nelson and Queenstown, says he is especially keen to showcase the Waikato as a tourist destination.
“As part of Ventura’s upgrade, we will be featuring large images of local attractions in guest rooms and public spaces, “he says. “This will help attract leisure visitors in addition to the mainly corporate clientele.”
Ventura Inn and Suites already enjoys a reputation as a quality accommodation provider, especially among corporate travellers to Hamilton, thanks to its spacious conference room which seats up to 70 people and features a full range of audio visual equipment.
“The hotel has not had significant capital injection in its 15 years of operation, says Mr Mitchell. “It is, however, a well-designed building with large guest rooms and an attractive reception/atrium area.
“There is a real opportunity to transform the presentation into something special.”
