BKs Hamilton Motel Complies with Hamilton and New Zealand Earthquake Standards

With Hamilton classed as a “medium” risk area for earthquakes in New Zealand, according to the Government’s 2015 Risk Zone Assessment, BKs Hamilton Motel would like to reassure guests their building meets all the national earthquake standards and requirements.
The standards apply to all commercial buildings, farm buildings, residential blocks, motels, hotels and other accommodation providers.
BK’s Hamilton Motel is one of the newest motels in Hamilton and is one of 13 BKs Motor Lodges throughout New Zealand, the largest privately-owned motel chain in the country.
“Guests might be feeling a bit nervous after the recent earthquakes,” says Tim Ward, co-owner of BKs Hamilton Motel, “and we would like to reassure them our buildings have earthquake ratings which meet the official standard requirements to the highest level, including laminated safety glass in all the windows.”
The new earthquake standards came into effect in 2015, with an estimated 193,000 buildings caught up in the law change, with some estimates putting the cost at $10 billion, slightly less than the cost of repairing leaky homes.
BK’s Hamilton Motel takes the security of their guests seriously, offering quality, secure accommodation with electronic key card access control.
Amenities include cooking facilities, Sky TV, DVD, direct dial telephone and high speed internet connections, recliner chairs, heating, electric blankets, ceiling fans, full length mirrors, hair dryers and make-up lights in the bathrooms.
Conveniently located close to Waikato and Breamer Hospitals, BKs Hamilton Motel has easy access to all the attractions of the Waikato, including Hobbiton, the Waitomo Caves, the Waikato Cycle Trails and the award-winning Hamilton Gardens.
