Canterbury Junior Tennis Titles for Rangi Ruru
Rangi Ruru Girls’ School has won three titles at the Canterbury Secondary Schools Junior Tennis Championships at Wilding Park in Christchurch this week.
Competing against teams from across the region on Wednesday, Tessa McCann won the Year 10 girls singles and together with Kate Edwards, the pair won the Year 10 girls’ doubles.
Luka Simmers won the Year 9 girls singles and together with Olivia Yankov-Reid placed second in the girls’ doubles, defaulting the final due to the game running over time.
Rangi Ruru Tennis Convenor, Anne Bissland says the wins demonstrate a depth in Rangi Ruru tennis and bodes well for the future.
“The girls performed very well in some tightly fought matches and we are extremely proud of them and their achievements,” says Ms Bissland.
