Ventura Inn & Suites Prepares for Balloons over Waikato

In 2017, Balloons over Waikato celebrates its 18th year as New Zealand's leading hot air balloon festival and Ventura Inn and Suites is looking forward to five days of hot air excitement.
Held every autumn in Hamilton, this year from 22 to 26 March, the free event attracts local, national and international balloonists who gather to experience fun and comradeship a well as to show off their skills in a range of competitions and demonstrations.
The organisers are expecting more than 130,000 spectators to turn out and enjoy the sight of balloons ascending through the Waikato sunrise from 7.30am every morning over the five days.
Kenneth Mitchell, owner of Ventura Inn and Suites, is a fan of all flying things and is looking forward to the excitement of the Balloons over Waikato event.
“Balloons over Waikato is just one of the many attractions Hamilton and the Waikato Region have to offer,” says Mr Mitchell. “It’s another great example of the free events that happen in and around Hamilton every year.”
Kenneth Mitchell is keen to spread the word about what Hamilton and the Waikato have to offer and has recently been renovating Ventura Inn and Suites to bring it up to the four-star accommodation standard he says Hamilton is lacking.
“Hamilton is quickly becoming a sought-after tourism destination,” he says, “but there’s a gap in the market for more four and five star hotels. With our renovations at Ventura Inn and Suites, we’re filling that gap.”
The Balloons over Waiakto Trust is a non-profit organisation which has been running this iconic event for 18 years. The Festival has been voted six times Best Waikato Event by the public of Hamilton.
In 2015 the event won the Best Established Community Event in New Zealand at the NAEP Awards.
Balloons over Waikato runs from 22 to 26 March at Innes Common, Hamilton Lake and The University of Waikato grounds.
