Managers of BK's Hamilton Motel Looking Forward to THE Expo

The Transport Heavy Equipment Expo, otherwise known as THE Expo, is coming to Hamilton this coming week on 2 and 3 March 2017 at Mystery Creek. The event is one of the most important days of the year for New Zealand’s transport and heavy equipment industry.
One couple who is enthusiastically looking forward to THE Expo is Nigel and Mel Orr, managers of BK’s Hamilton Motel, Hamilton’s newest motel, located on Tawa Street, Hamilton.
Mel and Nigel have more than 30 years of hospitality experience throughout New Zealand. Before getting into the hospitality industry, Nigel Orr had clocked up many years of experience as a line-haul truck driver, as well as owning his own Furniture Removal Business.
“I’m looking forward to being able to chat to the other truckies this week when they join us for the truck show,” says Nigel. “I do miss ‘the diesel in my blood’ - but not the long hauls that went with it.
“I very much enjoy the industry I’m in now, the motel and hospitality industry, but it’s great to catch up with people from the transport industry, to find out what’s new and look at the latest trucks and technology.”
Mel and Nigel will be hosting a TRUCKIE’S BBQ COOKED BREAKFAST to start the day, on both the Thursday and Friday mornings.
THE Expo, owned by the NZ National Fieldays Society, is touted as “an action-packed three days where exhibitors can display the latest technologies and products, and where visitors can discover the latest in the world of transport and heavy equipment.”
THE Expo will cover 50,000m2 of the Mystery Creek site and will include exhibits from companies and products from a range of areas within the industry.
The TRUCKIE’S BBQ COOKED BREAKFAST will start at 7am on Thursday and Friday mornings at the Motel.
“I don’t expect to see Nigel on those mornings as he will be busy talking trucks,” says Mel. “When we were first married he had photos of his trucks on his desk, instead of me.”
