Ventura Inn & Suites Looks Forward to 'The Generator' - a Waikato River Trails Event

Kenneth Mitchell, owner of Ventura Inn & Suites in Hamilton, is a big fan of the Waikato River Trails. A keen participator in outdoor activities, Kenneth likes to encourage people to experience the trails, which cover more than 100km of scenic land through the Southern Waikato.
“Many years of planning and hard work have gone into creating the Waikato River Trails,” says Kenneth. “It’s heartening to see the trails being enjoyed by so many locals and visitors to the Waikato.”
A member of the New Zealand Cycle Trails network, the Waikato River Trails showcase the Waikato landscape alongside New Zealand's longest river.
The trails are ideal for mountain biking, walking and running and provide access to areas previously rarely seen.
‘The Generator’ is an evolving multi-sport event, organised by the Waikato River Trails Trust. The full event is 61.5kms, consisting of a 6km Lake Kayak, 6km Trail Run, 32km Road Cycle and 12.5km mountain bike, followed by a 5km individual/team run around the Arapuni Powerhouse.
For 2017 options are available for the Generator FULL event (61.5kms), The Generator TRI event (55.5kms), the Generator DUO event (17.5km) and the Generator UNO fun run/walk event (5km). This year there is also a Secondary Schools Teams Challenge for both the FULL and TRI events.
The UNO is free for children 12 years and under, who are accompanied by a paying adult also participating in the UNO event.
“As well as being loads of fun,” says Kenneth Mitchell, “this event is a great way to take in the beauty of the Waikato region, from native bush to historic landmarks.
“Whether you walk, run or cycle, I encourage everyone to get out onto the Waikato River Trails and be inspired.”
