Civtec not only meets industry requirements concerning environmental awareness, it exceeds them.

Using up-to-date technology and machinery, Civtec, based in Hamilton, offers accurate, high-quality services in directional drilling, underground thrusting and civil engineering works.

Civtec takes environmental matters very seriously, as attested by co-owner and director of Civtec, Shane Smart, having previously held the role of Environmental Engineer during the construction of the Te Uku Wind Farm, near Raglan.  The success of the windfarm’s environmental control lead to the project winning Environment Waikato’s 2010 Inaugural Earthworks Site of the Year award.

The 28-turbine construction project involved building 26 kilometres of roads on 55 square kilometres of farmland.  Mr Smart’s role as Environmental Engineer for the duration of the project, covered sediment control and other potentially mitigating environmental impacts, which he identified throughout the project.

Civtec’s directional drilling services can be used for the installation of ducting for telecommunication, gas networks, electricity and water utilities, house connections, drainage, sewerage and storm water.

Using trenchless technology, works are undertaken with minimal need for excavation and reinstatement.  As well as increasing environmental sensitivity, this technology reduces costs and minimises interruption to daily operations.

“With my previous experience and knowledge in this field,” says Mr Smart, “Civtec is committed to minimising impact on the environment with the work we do.”

“At Civtec we strive for a sustainable future.”
