Here in the heart of Waikato, where the Southern Hemisphere's biggest agribusiness exhibition is taking place; the inaugural Waikato’s Got Talent Show is rumbling on the Friday night of the 16th June, giving Field Days visitors the perfect excuse for a great night out!

A family friendly event, held with the hearts of the community in mind; The Waikato’s Got Talent show is being held at 7pm at the Grain Exchange – a short drive from central city and a great venue for everyone.

The focus of the new event is about supporting talented people and helping create an atmosphere of recognition and support for people who have a talent that isn’t necessarily known in their day to day work places.

With a local performing arts scene that appears to fluctuate and struggles to get enough support, the Waikato’s Got Talent event aims to be another piece in the puzzle to change that.

Contrary to the harsh critic style of other GOT TALENT shows – the event is more about being Courageous and Stepping outside of your comfort zone – doing what you love and making it known and it doesn’t have to be music or arts related! One of the top priorities is to create a friendly encouraging atmosphere with positive feedback for all contestants.

Guest MC's are Natalie Cutler-Welsh (Go To Girl) and Phillip Quay (Media P.A). With these two MC’s on board the event is bound to be a huge success!

Natalie is the ‘Go to Girl, Speaker, Author and Impact Entrepreneur. As the CEO and founder of ‘Go to Girl’, Natalie encourages people to reach their potential and create great connections, collaborations and courage and is a well-known public figure in the media.

Phillip is the CEO of Media P.A. He is a speaker, PR and digital expert as well as a highly experienced and multiple award-winning Hamilton-based journalist. His passion for this event and enthusiasm for the Waikato is evident and we can’t wait to see how the event unfolds.

Prizes are sponsored from Media P.A and Go to Girl. An online artist promotional prize to the value of $2000 is provided by Media P.A. This is an exclusive marketing/promotional package which includes developing brand and profile as well as networking contacts for the winner for a period of 3 months. And Go to Girl: a 2-hour social media coaching session for one of the winners. Value $500.

We hope to attract support for a few spot prizes for courageous performances, encouraging those who enter to provide a little of their story to share with the audience. Talented local musician Gloria Grace is the event organizer. “I have a lot of heart behind the event. Phillip Quay from Media P.A was talking about running a talent show and I really wanted to see it happen. I am so excited that Natalie and Phillip are going to be MC’s and sponsoring the event!

“We all at some stage try to put ourselves out there and it’s often not easy. I’d like to encourage people to share their passion and talents with the community. As a tutor and a friend, I try to encourage my students and friends to get out there and do what they love and be all they are, so I also need to practice what I preach!

“I am fundraising for a music project but the main motivation behind the event is to show-case the local talent and encourage people to step outside their comfort zone. I believe this event is really positive for the Waikato community” - Gloria says.

“I hope you too, can join part of this journey and be a part of the bigger picture, helping other musicians, poets, dancers, story tellers or the like to make a brave pathway and be all they are.

The night promises to attract a lot of talent, fun and enthusiasm. Wine sold at the venue and Cheese platters provided.  Let’s get behind people in our community and support them and in turn, influence our city to become more vibrant! – Gloria White.
