"A good start to the racing phase of the season."
That from Rangi Ruru Girls' School Head Rowing Coach Mark Cotham after the Canterbury Rowing Champs at Lake Ruataniwha in Twizel this weekend.
"The racing was a great opportunity to see how the girls have maintained the fitness over the summer break. We relish any chance to race, especially with the business end of the season fast approaching," he says.
Cotham says he was pleased with the 26 'A' finals and that all girls had at least one 'A' final.
"It was fantastic to see the enthusiasm and grit demonstrated across all grades, from novice to senior alike."
“There’s still work to do, there always is at this stage but the crews finished strongly and that’s pleasing.”
Rangi Ruru will be back at Ruataniwha next weekend for the South Island Rowing Champs.
