BAY OF PLENTY

Some of Rotorua’s most exceptional young people have been selected as finalists for the upcoming OneChance Youth Awards.

Sponsored by Toi Ohomai, the awards recognise exceptional Rotorua youth (aged 15-24), celebrating their excellence and achievements.

There are 12 awards categories and 36 finalists including a violinist, performers, dance crews, sports groups, youth choirs and athletes.

Each individual or group has contributed significantly to their community, team or workplace by demonstrating integrity, initiative, enthusiasm, commitment and leadership skills.

Toi Ohomai is proud to sponsor two award categories – ‘Most Awesome Youth of the Year’ and ‘Supreme Youth Leader of the Year’. The finalists for both these categories are Joape Nagera (17), Joshua Gapes (18) and Te Ao Leach (17).

Jessica Barnett, Toi Ohomai’s Sponsorship, Leveraging and Engagement Manager says: “Supporting young people to achieve their dreams is a huge part of what we do at Toi Ohomai so these awards are a natural fit for us. We are excited to be on board as a Gold Sponsor for the second year running and look forward to recognising excellence in the community at the upcoming awards night.”

The winners, who will receive $10,000 of cash and prizes, will be announced at a glitzy awards evening on Saturday May 19.

Three finalists were also announced for the People's Choice Award where the public can vote for a finalist. To vote for the people's choice award or find out more about the awards, go to www.onechance.nz/youth-awards.
