Oasis Engineering’s award-winning Business Development Manager for Latin America and Asia Pacific, Felipe Aguilera, is a major reason that Oasis Engineering is so successful in these regions and around the world.

Ten years ago Felipe started working for Oasis Engineering who are a specialist CNG and product development company situated in the City of Tauranga, New Zealand.

With a strong Engineering background and with Spanish as his first language, Oasis Engineering initially employed Felipe on a short-term contract to help Oasis translate a promotional video into Spanish.

Oasis Engineering’s Managing Director, Andy Cameron, recognised the potential within Felipe and decided to offer him a full-time role promoting the Oasis products to Central and South America.

“His talents became apparent very quickly and it was clear that he was too good to let go, so he was offered a full-time position and has been with Oasis ever since,” says Managing Director, Andy Cameron.

With a passion for surfing, basing himself in Tauranga was a good option for Felipe as he often gets up early in the morning to catch a few waves before heading to the Oasis Engineering factory in Judea, Tauranga.

New customers, customer maintenance, customer support documentation, installation instructions, servicing instructions, catalogues, price lists and spec sheets all form the basis of Felipe’s work day.

What began as a role promoting products to Central and South America has now expanded to South Korea, India and China where he continues to have a significant role.

“Felipe does a tremendous job supporting the company’s agents in over a dozen countries while also developing new business in new and existing markets which is why we are doing so well in South America and Asia Pacific,” says Cameron.

Mid 2017, Felipe was the recipient of the BECA “Export Achievement” award at the 2017 Bay of Plenty ExportNZ awards hosted in Tauranga, New Zealand.

The judges said Aguilera embodied the key attributes of openness, innovation, inclusiveness and honesty – key ingredients in his company’s success.

This kind of dedication to promoting business in these locations is why Tauranga was the best performing city in New Zealand in 2017 with an unprecedented 6.6% GDP growth.

With Felipe and the rest of the staff at Oasis promoting their wares in New Zealand and around the world, the growth of GDP in Tauranga is likely to continue to improve.
