A New Zealand government initiative, payday filing changes the way businesses report on employee payments such as salary, wages, pay as you earn (PAYE) and other deductions. Through payday filing, payroll data will be sent electronically, directly to IR every payday rather than monthly.
If you’re a New Zealand employer paying more than $50,000 PAYE and Employer Superannuation Contribution Tax (ESCT) per year, you’ll need to file electronically through payroll software or myIR from 1 April 2019.
“This means that PAYE filing, always a manual task up until now, can finally be automated,” adds Kelly.
