CANTERBURY

Learning to dance seems to be in the grove for couples, singles, young and old alike, as people are looking at the dancing as a way of getting fit and meeting new people.

Thanks to main stream media, the increase in Hot Rod Shows, Beach Hops etc, Rock ‘n’ Roll seems to be having an increase in popularity as people enjoy the chance to dress up, listen to that cool 50’s & 60’s era of music. Not to mention that it is a fun sport that allows people to dance all night at a pace most can handle.

Graeme Greenlow, Chairman of The Southern Rock Club in Christchurch said that ‘The club is enjoying the resurgence in popularity and that it is great to see the resent beginners’ classes having fun, improving and enjoy our clubs training techniques’

One of the dancing instructors went on to say ‘Its great to have a class of couples wanting to dance together, but we could really do with some more men to come and dance with the ladies…..’ He also said that in saying that more ladies are always welcome.

Southern Rock and Roll Club, like most others, are a social club who also visit the clubs in the area most weekends to dance the night away.

So, if Rocking and Rolling gets your feet tapping why not pop down to the Woolston Club on a Monday Night at 7pm and join in the fun. Next 6-week lessons start on 10th September and is just $3 per lesson.
