The upcoming Awards Ceremony for the first New Zealand LGBTI Awards promises to be an extravagant affair, with entertainment, food, drink and celebration in abundance.

Taking place on the night of Thursday November 29th, at the luxurious Cordis Hotel in Auckland, the Awards will be celebrating and honouring the LGBTI community and its allies, particularly those who have put time and effort into raising awareness and promoting tolerance, equality and love.

“The New Zealand LGBTI Awards are designed to showcase individuals and organisations that have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to the LGBTI community,” says Director and MD of the New Zealand LGBTI Awards, Silke Bader.

“We believe that those who go the extra mile to ensure equality, opportunity and fair treatment for all, regardless of sexuality, gender identity, or intersex deserve to be recognised.”

The ceremony will commence at 6pm, with nominees and finalists taking to the Red Carpet in style before entering the Gala event.

A number of famous faces have been nominated, with many having confirmed their attendance on the night, including Kiwi politician and former TV show host Tamati Coffey, the MC for the evening, and the beloved Kiwi comedy duo, the Topp Twins, who will be receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award.

From 7:30pm to 10:30pm, a three-course dinner and drinks will be provided during the awards ceremony, where the winners of each category will be announced.

The categories include International Icon, Destination of the Year, and Brand/Campaign of the Year, with people, places and organisations both Kiwi and international nominated for the Awards.

Several musicians will be performing throughout the event as part of the entertainment, including the talented up-and-coming Kiwi singer Beth Winks.

A raffle will also be held on the night for Youthline, charity partner of the New Zealand LGBTI Awards and an organisation dedicated to providing support and guidance to the youth of New Zealand.

“The LGBTI Awards have chosen Youthline as a charity partner, as its goals align closely with those of the Awards. Many of the people Youthline supports are also struggling with their sexual orientation and gender identification,” says Silke.

The raffle prize will be drawn at the end of the ceremony, with all the raffle proceeds going directly to Youthline.

From 10:30 to midnight, an After Party will be held, with dessert, dancing and a DJ provided!
