There is an abundance of wonders to behold from the air when visiting the island paradise of Vanuatu! Whether you’re looking for a birds-eye view of the tropical beauty of Vanuatu, quick and easy access to one of the many natural attractions Vanuatu offers, or just want to take the ultimate selfie, leading aviation and tourism company Vanuatu Helicopters is the place to go!

“Anywhere in Vanuatu is a great place to visit – there’s always another sight to see, wherever you go,” says Andy Martin, Ground and Flight Operations Manager of Vanuatu Helicopters.

While there is no shortage of sights to see in Vanuatu, here is a list of the seven best things to see from the air!

Havannah Harbour

The Turtles by Helicopter Flight provided by Vanuatu Helicopters will bring you over the glowing azure waters of the beautiful Havannah Harbour, where turtles and dugongs can often be seen frolicking in their natural habitat. Framed by the vibrant green beauty of the Vanuatu Jungle, the Harbour is a picture-perfect snapshot of how exquisite Vanuatu can be. For those wanting to meet the turtles up close and personal, the flight will also land you at the Tranquillity Island Conservation Project and Sanctuary, where you can meet the staff and learn about the work they do with the local marine wildlife.

Nguna Island (Volcano)

The Extinct Volcano Landing Flight will take you past several points of interest, such as Cascade Waterfalls and Havannah Harbour, before landing on the slumbering giant that is the extinct volcano of Nguna Island. The backdrop of the volcano provides the perfect opportunity for the photo of a lifetime! The return flight will afford keen-eyed fliers a glimpse of the deep canyons and dense jungle throughout the island paradise of Vanuatu.

Cascade Waterfall

This waterfall is an extraordinary sight – a series of swimmable pools leading to a 50-metre plummet into the waters below. “The Famous Cascade Waterfall is a sight to behold - a beautiful spring fed water falls nestled in a deep jungle clad ravine,” says Alison Fleming, Group Marketing Manager for Vanuatu Helicopters.

The Cascade Waterfall Heli Adventure will take you over the falls and orbit them, allowing you to see the people swimming in the waters below, snap a photograph or simply bask in the natural serenity and beauty of this piece of paradise.

Vanuatu Jungle

The Heli Zipline Combo Flight at Vanuatu Helicopters will take you soaring over lush tropical jungles, before alighting on a plateau at the jungle zipline – zip your way between six platforms via ziplines over 200 metres long and 80 metres off the ground! Witness an extraordinary view of the jungle, both from the sky and the zipline, before being whisked back off to Port Vila and seeing other fantastic landmarks such as the Cascade Waterfall and Hideaway Island on the way.

Port Vila

The Port Vila Flight gives visitors to Vanuatu the perfect showcase of a tropical wonderland full of natural harbours, coral reefs and island resorts. Seen from the air, Port Vila is the perfect slice of scenic paradise. The Port itself is the perfect place to visit once back on the ground, with snorkelling, hiking and more on offer!

Ambrym Volcano

“Ambrym is a great thing to check out while you’re in Vanuatu - a 3000-foot volcano, with the top shrouded in cloud,” says Andy Martin, Ground and Flight Operations Manager of Vanuatu Helicopters. The Heli Active Volcano Adventure gives visitors to Vanuatu a chance to peer into the roiling heart of the volcano, a seething cauldron of lava at the bottom of a 400-foot drop! This is a once-in-a-lifetime sight, not to be missed!

Mele Village/Bay

While the village itself is rife with culture, and provides no shortage of opportunities to learn about the history and customs of Vanuatu, the sight of the village nestled into the glistening waters of Mele Bay is an unforgettable sight once seen from the air. Many of the flights offered by the award-winning company of Vanuatu Helicopters offer a perfect view of the village and the bay as they chopper you off to the next fantastic piece of Vanuatu’s natural beauty!
