Rubberneckers cause crashes on the Southern Motorway

As a result of a vehicle fire on SH1 on the Southern Motorway at Bombay in a northbound lane, a 6 car crash has occurred opposite the incident in the southbound lanes.

Both northbound lanes are open and one southbound lane is blocked. 

An unrelated crash has also just occurred in a northbound lane in the same area. 

Motorists are advised that delays in the area are inevitable and reminded to pay particular care and attention on the roads during the holiday periods.
