Heat pumps usually take around 10-20 minutes to bring a room up to temperature and maintain it easily, making them an affordable, clean and easy way of keeping you at a comfortable temperature this winter.
To get the most out of your heat pump the first step is to learn how to use the timer feature. Don't just leave your heat pump on all day if you're not at home. “You can set the unit to turn on 15 minutes before you get home or before you get up on a chilly winter morning,” says Andy Cooper from A&A Solar and Electrical, who co-owns A&A Solar and Electrical with Andy Mann.
Don't set your heat pump to a higher temperature than required. Often people believe that selecting a higher temperature will warm the room faster but this simply doesn’t work. “Just set the temperature you want and let the heat pump do the rest of the work,” comments Andy.
Make sure to give your heat pump a routine check-up every three months. This easy maintenance involves removing the filter from the indoor unit and giving it a good vacuuming. “Also check the outdoor unit to ensure that it hasn't air intake hasn't become clogged with debris,” adds Andy.
