Leading International Supplier of Industrial Products and Solutions Atlas Copco New Zealand Prepares For World Safety Day

Worldwide industrial giant Atlas Copco’s objective on this year’s World Safety Day is to be both educational and enjoyable, says their Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality Advisor Tim Wilhelmsen.

An employee of the company for over seventeen years, Tim ensures the high standards of Atlas Copco New Zealand, a leading provider of industrial equipment and solutions all over the world, are regularly met and maintained.

Experienced in legal compliance, machine shop management, support engineering, and more, Tim has tackled a wide variety of roles within the company, starting as a service engineer and moving on to aftermarket sales, technical support, and eventually into training roles nationwide.

“I ensure the company is aware of environmental aspects and impacts, and ensure that the company is providing a quality and sustainable operation in New Zealand,” Tim says.

He describes “diversity and the opportunity for career progression” as the best things about working for Atlas Copco New Zealand.

“Keeping up with change can be a challenge, the company is constantly evolving and presently we are globally going through digitalization,” Tim says.

“We have many systems that are now going to be cloud based so that we can all stay better connected and provide better support both internally and externally.”

He describes World Safety Day – taking place on April 28th of this year – as an opportunity to address any concerns the local teams may have, as Atlas Copco has observed World Safety Day for the last five years.

“Due to the organization being spread across the country, this year we will be holding a Safety Quiz which can be completed online,” Tim says.

“The idea is to have a little fun but also learn what people can and cannot do and learn where we need to improve.”

World Safety Day is a worldwide campaign organised by the International Labour Organisation to encourage and support safe and healthy work practices and ideas in industries and workplaces around the world.

The campaign was created to address the millions of men and women who lose their lives each year due to work-related accidents and diseases.
