Contrary to popular belief, winter months are actually great for solar energy production says Hamilton’s leading solar and heat pump specialists, A&A Solar and Electrical.
Winter conditions can actually improve the performance of solar panels. This is due to the photovoltaic (PV) technology in solar panels that can more efficiently convert sunlight to power when they are colder. If you live somewhere where it snows, “solar panels can actually catch the sunlight that reflects off the snow, adding to what the panels themselves could receive throughout the day,” says Andy Cooper from A&A Solar and Electrical, who co-owns the company with Andy Mann.
One of the best ways to get the most of your solar power system during winte is to use your energy hungry appliances when your system will be generating the most power. Generally, the hours between 9am and 4pm is the best time to use appliances like the dryer, vacuum cleaner and dishwasher. “It is a good idea to use the timer delay function on these appliances if you’re going to be away from home,” advises Andy.
With the cold winter temperatures making their way across New Zealand and driving up heating bills of Kiwis, A&A Solar and Electrical are able to provide a cost-effective, economical and reliable option for providing heat and power to your home for this winter and all winters to come.
A & A Solar and Electrical are leaders in solar installation services in the Waikato and they have more than 15 years in solar experience. “At A&A Solar and Electrical we can get you wired up and ready to start saving on power bills in no time,” adds Andy.
