Auckland Rugby International Academy has one to two week experience available for novices. Members are assessed on arrival in order to tailor programmes to the individual’s level and objectives. Each player will get a report at the end of the programme outlining their progress and further areas for improvement.

The programme includes five strength and conditioning sessions per week. There are four rugby skill sessions weekly that includes games for understanding. The session gives a tour of Eden Park, one apparel package and one Kapa Haka. For non-English speaking players there are three to four language classes. The academy can arrange homestay accommodation for players.

The first two days of the programme is focused around strength and conditioning and on field content. Once this information is collated the Academy begins personalised programmes. The Academy shows players the path to behave and train professionally in a highly diverse, competitive and fun environment.

Players have access to the top Eden Park High Performance Centre which has a gym, changing room, shower, classrooms, analysis room and medical clinic. Players can complete an expression of interest form available through the Academy’s website and can be advised on the best programme.

On behalf of the 20 clubs within the province, The Auckland Rugby Union is responsible for the management, administration, marketing and development of rugby in the area.

Based at Eden Park, the home of many of New Zealand's greatest rugby moments, the union facilitates the running of school, club and representative competitions in which Auckland teams participate. These include primary school competitions like the Bill McLaren trophy, Club competitions such as the world renowned Gallaher Shield, right up to the Mitre 10 Cup. The development of the game is assisted through such schemes as the Auckland Rugby Academy and numerous coaching courses.
