Students from Crown who have enrolled in hospitality, travel and tourism courses, and other available short courses, are required to apply and complete an internship program before they graduate.

This prerequisite is a way for students to apply what they have learnt in the classroom and put theory into practice. For Crown, education should be a culmination of learning and applying these teachings directly in the workforce, so that students can explore different career paths that suit their interests. An internship enables them to discover what it’s like to work in their chosen industries and gain real-world experience.

Additionally, completing real world experience increases one’s marketability and gives students an edge over other candidates when applying for jobs. Students who intern will learn so much more as they settle into their respective job roles. They will learn the ins and outs of the job, gain confidence with daily tasks, and speak to and observe experienced professionals.

The real world experience also boosts students' collaborative social skills needed in the workplace. From communication to problem-solving and teamwork, such experiences can provide students with skills they need to achieve leadership positions.

Crown ensures that opportunities are open and available to students by collaborating with large and established local companies. Crown sends their students to partner organisations in the hospitality, travel, and tourism industries, and boasts a strong connection with industry partners including AJ Hackett, Four Points by Sheraton, The Northern Club, Quinovic Viaduct, IDNZ, Stamford Plaza Auckland, and more.
