Fatal crash north of Ashburton

Emergency services attended a head on crash on SHW1 Dromore approximately eight kilometres north of Ashburton at around 11.00pm on Sunday evening.

A north bound car had collided head-on with a south bound truck and trailer unit.

The sole occupant of the car, a woman in her early twenties died at the scene. The truck driver received minor injuries.

SHW1 at Dromore has been closed since the crash. Diversions are in place and it is anticipated the road will be open around 5.30 am this morning
