'THEN', a poem by Leon Aarts 1982
It was such a fine day...then
so peaceful
even the birds had nothing to say
then it began
to rain nuclear bombs inside my head
thundering calamities shook me off my feet
and
sharp forks of light dug out my eyes
The birds transformed into mechanical flying machines
as they landed on no mans land
when I could see I remembered
it was such a fine day
