Two dead in Canterbury crash
Police have been advised by RCCNZ of a Piper Cherokee aircraft that has crashed near Lake Coleridge, Canterbury.
A search had been initiated by RCCNZ at about 1pm today after it had been reported as overdue and was subsequently found after a search involving 3 fixed wing aircraft and the Westpac Rescue helicopter.
There were two persons on board and there were no survivors.
CAA will also be investigating and it is expected that the bodies will be recovered tomorrow.
Darfield Police will be holding the file.
Police are in the process on advising NOK.
