Lower Hutt's Ben Harford spun out of the lead of the second Toyota Racing Series ten lap race at Taupo on Saturday.

On a day when all the drivers struggled for grip, Harford had taken the lead in the second race when pole man Dominic Storey stalled and had to be pushed to the rear of the grid.

International series leader Matt Halliday started last after failing to qualify in the second session on Friday and his challenge in the second race ended when he made contact with Christina Orr and Daynom Templeman, sending both off the track.

Harford had seemed set to maximise his overall series points and take the international series points lead when he spun on a fast right-hand corner on the track's infield section, rejoining in tenth place.

Michael Burdett put pressure on Bamber throughout the later stages of the race but was unable to get close enough to attempt to overtake. Burdett posted fastest race lap in his pursuit of Bamber.

From his strong showing at the start of race one on Friday, where he ran second overall for several laps, Australian Nathan Antunes forged through to hold fourth overall behind series leader Andy Knight.

"There wasn't much grip out there, the car was moving around a lot and I could see most of the others were having similar problems but it was a great race."
