Finance:. NZ dollar remained steady to slightly easier over the week. The Brent Crude increased with more attacks on Iran and is currently $US104.99.
Wool: Last week’s wool auction saw a slight firming of prices in both the crossbred and finer wools.
Beef, Sheep & Venison schedules: The meat schedules remain steady to slightly easier across all categories. The international demand for red meat is very strong pushing the local prices higher.
Dairy Prices. The next g/DT auction will be interesting as the Pulse Auction shows SMP prices continuing to rise while WMP and butter are declining. SMP prices now exceed WMP – in the 30 + years of monitoring the markets I cannot recall this occurring before.
Luxon’s bottom line of remaining in the Paris Accord & keeping Net Zero is wrong. There are now serious calls for people to provide their Party Tick to either ACT of NZ First. It might create an overhang in Parliament but National needs to be told that Net Zero & the Paris Accord will ruin the country & we cannot afford it – ideologically driven polices are dumb.

Satire is always fun helping us enjoy life and more particularly helping understand the stupidity of some people or groups of people. Both the Greens and The Opportunities Parties (TOP) have given us stupidity on a plate. Firstly the Greens plan to nationalize 120 supermarkets and 2 distribution center’s - Communism at its best and I again reflect and am thankful that Diary Board ceased to exist in 2001 as it was already owned by the government and think of the fun Chloe would have had with the farmers if she was in charge of the Dairy Board that controlled the sale of all milk products!! The names for the supermarkets range from “Pak-n-Soviet” to “KiwiMarxist” with “Comrade World” and “New World Order” as alternatives. The hammer and sickle feature in most logo’s. But the thoughts run wild when you image the Greens management. There will be 10 varieties of oat water and almond milk, the meat section will be replaced with a “Climate Apologist” handing out pamphlets on methane emissions and there will be a limited range of approved climate friendly products only. The alcohol section will feature Brewed grains and fruits like Barley, Rice, and Grapes (whoops, sorry they are already on the shelves), but they will be better for you when rebranded to reflect our willingness to save the planet. Before entering the store, we will all be vetted to ensure we comply with the Green ideology as we are encouraged to buy Green friendly foods like green lentils, vegetable meats and a variety of hemp products while propaganda will be piped through the stores sound system. The buyers of the food for the stores will be offering farmers and growers a subsistence living wage for the produce to ensure everyone can afford whatever they want, and of course the foodbanks will close down because the essentials of life are to be affordable for all and if you can’t afford what you really really want you can easily walk out of the store with a trolley load of goods and just mention Golriz’s name and all will be OK, perhaps they will create a Golriz Card for the poor!!. It is all so exciting. After getting our new environmentally friendly supermarkets we will be challenged by TOP’s Land Tax and as a poor pensioner living on the government pension of $2,000 per month and I will now have to pay a land tax at 1.75% of the land value annually. Now that my valuable section is worth $500,000 I must pay $8,750 pa in tax on top of my rates. My friendly TOP’s member knows I cannot pay but now offers to create an annual debt to the government waiting for me to snuff it and they can then claim the 20 years of unpaid land tax back from my meagre estate. So to tie it all together, I now go back and get a Golriz Card and get free groceries from Pak-n-Soviet in an attempt to pay the TOP’s land tax. But there is a sales pitch for me - “Look, you’re near the end of your life. Do it for the next generation as I’m sure they’ll admire you for it, comrade — especially once they inherit what is left after the tax debt is taken out.” They then reasoned with me that the policy was not about making older people poor or being required to eat manufactured “pretend” meats, it was about “unlocking fairness for all”. Fairness they believe is taxing an asset I had spent decades paying off, maintaining and worrying about, but then I was given a helpful retirement guide by the TOP candidate and their Green mates to ensure equity and fairness which I had never previously understood:
