Final Verdict: ★★★★½ (4.5/5)
I like this painting a lot. It’s dense, restless, and full of visual energy.
It feels like a city turned inside out — buildings, faces, windows and abstract symbols stacked tightly in intense colour, outlined in thick black lines. The red circular form at the top right watches over everything like a wry, slightly mocking sun.
The composition never settles. Your eye keeps moving from one half-hidden face or spiral to the next. That restlessness matches the title perfectly: it’s not offering answers, it’s asking the question and making the asking feel alive.
Strong colour, confident layering, and a good balance between geometric structure and organic forms. A vigorous, thoughtful piece of New Zealand abstract expressionism.https://www.infonews.co.nz/photo.cfm?id=35746
