Man assaulted after stopping to use toilet

Papanui Police are today following up a robbery and sexual assault that occurred at the Burwood Park toilets between 11.00 and 12.00 pm on the 30 January 2008. 

Detective Sergeant Greg Cottam said that a 57 year old Burwood man stopped to urgently use the toilets while travelling home and while in the toilet was grabbed from behind and sexually assaulted, then robbed of his wallet and cell phone. 

He said that Police were carrying out a forensic examination of the toilet block today in an effort to identify the offender. 

He advised that the victim was in shock but not injured and was at home with friends recovering following a medical examination overnight. 

Detective Sergeant Cottam is seeking assistance from the public and would like to hear from anyone who has information regarding activity around the Burwood Park toilet area, particularly between 11.00 and 12.00 pm on Wednesday the30 January 2008.
