Large vegetation fire near Christchurch

At about 4.40pm on 6/2/08 a large vegetation fire started on the western side of Tunnel Rd, Heathcote Valley, Christchurch.

Police were called to assist with cordons and to commence evacuations of properties if necessary.

As at 7.05pm, no evacuations are required and it is expected that the police cordons will be lifted shortly.
