Crash near Waiouru closes SH 1

State Highway One between Turangi and Waiouru on the Desert Road will be closed until approximately 

5.00 pm as emergency services clear the scene of a crash involving three cars.

One woman was flown to hospital by helicopter with serious injuries as a result of the crash.

No diversions are available as any alternative route will take longer to travel than the estimated length of the closure. 

Motorists are advised to delay their travel where possible.
