Police search for missing two-year-old

A Police Search and Rescue operation will be expanded this morning in an attempt to locate a missing two year old girl at Tapu, north of Thames. 

The girl was last seen inside her house on Tapu Coroglen Road at about 6.30 pm yesterday. 

Searchers, assisted by the police helicopter, Eagle, have extensively searched the immediate area during the night and a larger team is readying to continue at first light. 

Sgt Bell at SAR base said that the child was wearing a pale yellow T shirt and a nappy.

He said that conditions have been relatively mild overnight; fine with just a short period of light rain, however the age of the child gives concern.
 
'The terrain surrounding the property is steep with thick secondary regrowth that will require intensive searching', said the Sergeant; 'We will be using as many searchers as we can call out to assist.'
