Welcome to 2008, sounds a bit late doesn’t it! Some bright person pointed out recently that this year is almost a sixth over already……..

In the News this week:: Janos Kaszala is getting some good Press on Hungary’s National Ice Hockey Site more: here
For those of you who know Angelique, she is having fun in Turkey; and has been updating me on her progress, more at a later date.
The NZ U20 Ice Hockey Team has beaten Australia (the first time for an NZ National Team) and then went on to win Gold in the Division 3 World Champs. Now they will be promoted to Division 2 next year, more here.

Congratulations to Aardwolf Adam Soffer who has been chosen for the Ice Blacks to play in the Division 2 World Champs in Australia this April.

For those of you who haven’t caught up with the grapevine recently the Queenstown Ice Rink has been in the news as filming for the blockbuster X-Men Wolverine has impacted on local Ice Hockey more

SNC News:
Schedules and Stats for all grades of the SNC are available here. These have recently been updated. Our thanks to Claire for this.
The Ice Prices have risen this year as we are affiliated to the CIHA the SNC receive a discounted rate and Pay $235 per hour.
Normal hire rates are $250 per hour.
Congratulations to Keith Payne and Shelly Bannink who have been appointed Co Coaches for the 2008 SNC Rep Team.
The SNC has received a total of $10,000 to be put towards Ice time after Christmas this will be spread between the 17 teams.
Nominations are called for the position of President and Grade Coordinators of the SNC.
SNC AGM will be held on 1.30pm on Sunday the 25th May at 15 Millcroft place.
The SNC delegates for the CHIA this year will be Alison, Bee and Dave Van Der Werf.
The Next SNC meeting will be Monday the 31st of March 2008, 7.30pm at Seventy7 Restaurant and Bar.

Pre Registration forms for the 2008 Contact Season are now available.
Premier Players need to grade every year and B grade players every 2 year, contact Ivana for more information.

NZ U20 Ice Hockey Team makes history
NZ U20 Ice Hockey Team wins Gold! The New Zealand Under 20's Ice Hockey team has caused a major upset today by beating Serbia 5 – 4 at the International Ice Hockey Federation U20 World Championships Division 3 in Belgrade, Serbia to win the Gold medal.
