On your bike
Bike Wise 2008 is about to get underway in Central Otago.
One of the events planned for this week is ‘Go by Bike Days’. This event is a fun way to start the working day by just biking to work and stopping off on the way for a free breakfast.
Organiser of the event Jo Robinson from Community Road Safety said, “There’s an array of tempting breakfast foods that will be served to bikers on their way to work in both Alexandra and Cromwell.”
Breakfast will be available at Pioneer Park on Wednesday 27 February and in the courtyard outside the Council offices on Thursday 28 February.
‘Go by Bike Days’ is just one of the events planned for Central Otago, the other key event is the ‘Mayoral Challenge’.
Mrs Robinson said “This event is about having fun and winning points for our region and the opportunity of winning a prize.”
There are a range of spot prizes on offer including a bike. All that people need to do is ride two kilometres around Pioneer Park.
This year “Shrek” the famous Merino sheep from Tarras is even going take part in the parade behind Mayor Malcolm Macpherson.
The Mayoral Challenge bike ride will take place in Alexandra on Sunday 2 March at 10.30 am starting at Pioneer Park.
