Truck crash and fire near Putaruru

A truck and trailer unit carrying foodstuffs has rolled and caught fire on SH1 just north of Putaruru. The driver was reported to have sustained minor injuries.

Although the fire is now out and the truck is off to one side, it will take some time to completely damp down hot spots and clear the road. A northbound lane has been kept open however a diversion has been put in place for southbound traffic.

Southbound traffic is being diverted onto SH5 at Tirau, turning onto Whites Road (SH28) to rejoin SH1 at Putaruru. The diversion is sign posted.
