Waimakarri Bridge, restricted to one lane after truck hits bridge.

News Release 1: Truck has hit the side of the Waimakarri Bridge Christchurch causing lane closure. 

At approximately 6.45am on the 29/02/2008 a truck working carrying single hit the side of the Waimakarri Bridge causing damage to the eastern side South Bound Lane.

The Truck had left its tray in the extended position after dumping single and then driven under the bridge. 

Police and Transit have closed one lane until a structure engineer can make an assessment of the damage.

The Main Highway over the bridge will be restricted until further notice.
