Death investigation in Tauranga

Tauranga Police have commenced an investigation into the death of a local man following an incident at a residential address in Brookfield, Tauranga on the evening of Friday 7 March 2008.

A small social gathering had been in progress at the time of the incident.

A 29 year old man from Papamoa was initially treated by Ambulance staff at the scene and transported soon after to Tauranga Hospital.

Initial medical examination suggests the deceased suffered a head injury.

A post mortem examination is being conducted in Auckland on Sunday 9 March 2008 to determine the cause of death.

Enquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding this incident and a number of persons are still to be spoken to.

No arrests have been made at this time.
