School yard attack Holy Cross Primary School in Miramar

Police are appealing for witnesses and information concerning a sexual assault overnight, Friday 14th March 2008. 

Between 10pm and midnight a male accosted the teenage victim in the grounds of the Holy Cross Primary School, Para Road Miramar, Wellington. 

After a brief struggle the victim managed to fight off her attacker and ran to the nearby Miramar Central School where she was again grabbed by this male. 

Detective Craig Vining said 'This was a sustained and sexually motivated attack by the offender. He has tried on 3 to 4 occasions to subdue the victim. She did extremely well in the circumstances to fight him off and then make her way to safety. 

I would urge anyone in the area who saw a male chasing a female, or anything else they saw or heard that may assist this inquiry, to contact Police. We are particularly interested in hearing from a young couple who were in the playground of Holy Cross when the incident occurred. 

We also believe the offender was involved in an unrelated fight close to the schools prior to accosting the victim. This may jog people's memories about him.'

Aged about 17 years
Average build and height
Wearing baggy clothes
