WAITAKERE CITY

At about 10.30 pm on Wednesday 19th March 2008, the Mobil service station situated at the intersection of Henderson Valley and smythe Roads, was the subject of an aggravated robbery.

Two male offenders, one armed with a hangun, have smashed their way through locked glass doos to gain to the service station.

The firearm was then pointed at the lone female attendant.

The two offenders described as Male Maori or polynesian, aged between 15 and 20, then stole cash and cigarettes before leaving the service station.

It is believed that the two males spent some time on the forecourt prior to smashing their way into the service station. During this time a number of members of the public have made purchases.

A vehicle was also observed speeding from Smythe Road and turning right into henderson valley. The vehicle has been described as a small maroon coloured vehicle similar to that of a Diahatsu Mira.

Police are seeking information from anyone who may know the identity of the offenders or may have observed the offenders or the vehicle around the time of the robbery.

Anyone with information should contact the Waitakere CIB.

As a result of the incident the female attendant was extremely upset and shaken but sustained no physical injury.

This incident was the first of two armed robberies in the Henderson area, the latter occurring just before three am this morning.

The two incidents are not thought to be connected at this early stage of enquiry.
