Good news, from a decision to action.

The Clutha Management Committee agreed to allocate $10,000 towards fixing
the retaining wall near the Alexandra boat ramp at its meeting last month.

Council’s Community Facility Manager Grahame Smail said “The contract has
now been let and work is about to get underway.”

Mr Smail said “The intention is to make small improvements to the whole boat
ramp and picnic area and this particular piece of work is just part of achieving
that.”

The contractors will use large flat rocks to create an aesthetically pleasing
look to the whole area. These will help to protect the bank itself, give some
protection to the boat ramp, plus reduce any ongoing potential danger to the
public.

Currently this wall is taped off and a sign placed warning the public to keep
off.
