District Plan to become Operative
At its meeting on 27 February the Planning and Environment Committee of
the Central Otago District Council resolved that the Central Otago District Plan
will become operative on 1 April 2008.
The Proposed District Plan was first notified for submission in 1998 and was
amended by decisions on those submissions on 1 July 2000. During the
period between late 2000 and mid 2007 references (objections to the
decisions) were resolved through negotiation or by formal hearing before the
Environment Court.
Amendments have now been made to the Proposed District Plan to
incorporate the outcomes of the Environment Court decisions, variations and
designations along with miscellaneous alterations of minor effect which are
able to be changed in accordance with provisions of the Resource
Management Act.
Variations 1, 2C, 2E-2I, 2K, 2P-2R, 2T-2X, 3A-3D and 4A-4C that have
previously been publicly notified during the period July 2005 to early 2007 and
are subject to submissions and/or further submissions are to be treated as
proposed changes to the newly operative Central Otago District Plan. These
may result in further changes to the District Plan in the future.
Copies of the operative District Plan are available for viewing at any of the
Council libraries or service centres from the 1st of April.
