Due to a car versus truck crash in the Far-North, State Highway One (SH1) will be closed for the next three hours in order to clear the vehicles from a bridge and then check the bridge for structural damage.

The site of the crash is SHI Rangiahua on the bridge over the Waihou River.

There is no immediate diversions road anywhere in the vicinity.

Vehicles that were intending to travel via SH1 in the Rangiahua, Mangamuka and Kaitaia regions are advised to use State Highway 10 (SH10).

This alternate route will add significant travel time and motorists are advised to delay non-essential travel.

Motorists currently stuck in the crash vicinity are advised to exercise patience and/or retrace their journey.
