Truck crash closes Ngauranga Gorge

Police are advising motorists leaving Wellington city on State Highway One to expect delays in the Ngauranga Gorge.

A 47 tonne fuel tanker has broken down in the middle of the North bound lanes through the Gorge and is causing significant disruptions to traffic flow through the area.

The truck broke down shortly after 2pm and due to its weight has been unable to be moved. Recovery work is still underway - but Police are advising motorists to avoid non-essential travel through the Ngauranga Gorge if possibe
