Dash across town for quick delivery
At about 1.30am on 8/4/08 police were called upon to assist a midwife with an across town dash.
The midwife had gone to Christchurch Womens hospital where a pregnant patient was meant to be meeting her.
However, things had progressed quickly and the lady began having the baby at home.
The midwife, on seeing a police patrol, asked for assistance and was escorted across town in time for a quick delivery.
Both mother and baby are doing well.
The male and female police officer were pleased to help and on becoming available again proudly advised Comms 'it's a girl.'
