TURANGI

A number of issues have arisen between Taupo District Council and one of the building contractors working on the Turangi Public Library renovation project.

The Council’s Assets and Capital Projects Manager, Neil Barclay, said the Council is currently working through the legal and contractual issues involved. The contractor is no longer on site and Council is seeking prices from other contractors to complete the work.

Turangi Community Board Chairman, Cr Don Ormsby, said he was concerned about over runs in costs and time.

Mr Barclay acknowledged Cr Ormsby’s concerns and said that an update on the project and a revised expected completion date will be provided as soon as possible.
