AUCKLAND

Waitakere Police are currently interested in the movements of a vehicle in the New Lynn/Kelston area between the hours of 2:00pm yesterday (Tuesday 9th April 2008) and the early hours of this morning (Wednesday 10th April 2008).

The vehicle is a Grey 1990 Nissan Primera sedan registered XH7643.

This vehicle was stolen from the Lynmall Shopping Centre, New Lynn, at approximately 1:30pm yesterday.

It was seen a short time later by Police in the car park underneath the Kelston Shopping Centre, Kelston. As Police approached the vehicle, the vehicle has sped out of the shopping centre car park hitting a Police Constable.

The Police Constable has suffered multiple fractures to his leg as a result of being struck by the vehicle and is currently in North Shore Hospital.

The vehicle was located early this morning in the Warehouse Stationary car park in New Lynn.

The driver of the vehicle is described as;

* Male
* Polynesian
* Aged in his 20's
* Skinny to medium build

Police are interested in the movements of this vehicle during the above times. Police are also interested in any information that will lead to the identification of the driver of this vehicle.
