Serious assault in Cashel Mall

At about 1.00am on Saturday 12 April 2008 a group of English and Danish tourists were the victims of an unprovoked and cowardly attack in Central Christchurch.

While walking through Cashel Mall the offenders have confronted the tourists and attacked them.

Six of the tourists received injuries. They were treated at Christchurch Hospital and five have been discharged.

The remaining victim is in a stable condition.

Two of the tourists received knife wounds to the chest and stomach.

The attackers were described as 5 males in aged between late teens to early 20's.
