Flooding in Waikato and Western BOP

As a result of heavy rain, there is severe flooding in the South Waikato area and also in the Western Bay of Plenty.

SH1 on the south side of Tirau has severe flooding and is down to one lane. SH29 in the lower Kaimais on the Tauranga side also has severe flooding.

Police are asking motorists in these areas and also around other parts of South Waikato and Western Bay of Plenty to drive safely due to the extreme weather conditions.
