Fatal crash on Auckland motorway

Police are investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred shortly after 01:30 am today.

A dark coloured station wagon entered the motorway at Nelson St, Auckland and drove the wrong way down the motorway.

The vehicle crashed into two other vehicles at Te Atatu a short time later.

The female driver of the vehicle driving the wrong way died immediately.

The occupants of the other vehicles were not seriously injured.

Waitemata Serious Crash Unit are asking for any witnesses to contact them.

The identity of the driver has not been released as Next of Kin have not yet been notified.

The motorway is now open again.
