HUNTLY

On the 29th April 2008, at about 7.58am on State Highway 1 south of Huntly, a southbound Nissan car appears to have crossed the centre line into the northbound passing lanes, colliding with a 4 x 4 Land cruiser.

The sole occupant of the Nissan was killed in the crash and the driver of the Toyota Land cruiser was treated at the scene by St Johns Ambulance staff for minor injuries.

The road was closed for three hours while emergency services and the Waikato Serious Crash unit conducted a scene examination.

Police enquiries are continuing and the cause has yet to be determined.

The deceased is a local 17 year old man from Huntly.

His details will be released once family have been informed.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact Huntly Police on 07 828 7560 in particular the driver of a northbound truck and trailer unit.
